...AND AGAIN
Centrepoint, Epping - 21st December 1988

What did we expect? More of the same? I personally could have put up with a concert as good as Saturday's. It just seems that as soon as the band get within these four walls, funny things start to happen.

Halfway through the set and this is looking like the best Acolytes show I've ever seen.Pressies are distributed into the (rather bashful, it must be said) crowd and everyone's having a good time, then it all goes rather odd as Alastair takes up an electro-acoustic and they give us a version of "Last Christmas" featuring a "Ding Dong Merrily On High" interlude played on tuned cymbals.

The chaos returns to haunt the band though, with Alastair telling Andy to "Shout out 'bundle!'". "Bundle!" screams the singer, to be rewarded with a multitude of bodies suddenly appearing on the stage."Shout out 'bundle'!" (Click or larger version)

The scene is not one which impresses Andy: "Look, can we just get these people off the stage... me and Newboid are just embarrassed..." Was Newboid embarrassed? I questioned him on this at a later moment: "Oh. Oh yes," he replied, rather unconvincingly.

I later related Andy's remarks to Alastair, who hadn't quite caught them the first time around: "Yeah, he always goes off in a huff when we play here!" I wonder why?
